Highly anticipated 'Do You Believe? ' trailer released

HOUSTON, Texas (Christian Examiner) -- The writers and creators of "God's Not Dead," the highest grossing independent faith film of the year, have released a trailer for the film's highly anticipated follow-up project, "Do You Believe? "

"So many have been looking forward to this project as the follow up release to 'God's Not Dead,'" said David A.R. White, an actor, producer and founding partner of Christian movie studio Pure Flix.

While the movie reportedly is not the expected sequel to "God's Not Dead," it does follow up on ideas in the movie.

" 'God's Not Dead' resonated with audiences because it explored and validated the existence of God," White said in a Variety online article. "'Do You Believe?' takes Christianity to another level ... the Cross."

"[It] deals with the power of the cross and the relevancy of the cross in today's society," White said.

The film focuses on a dozen different lives that unexpectedly intersect on the streets of Chicago. Some of the characters are a pastor who re-examines his faith, a veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, and a gang-banger.

The movie, which wrapped filming in Michigan last month, is scheduled to release in theaters Spring 2015. It will have a much larger budget than the studio's "God is Not Dead" which cost just over $2 million according to Religion News Service.

It's cast includes Golden Globe Award-winner Cybill Shepherd, Mira Sorvino, Sean Astin, Lee Majors, Alexa PenaVega, Ted McGinley, Andrea Logan White, Brian Bosworth and Delroy Lindo.

"God's Not Dead"  won the award for "Inspirational Film of the Year," at the Gospel Music Association's Dove Awards. Also nominated in the category were the films "Grace Unplugged," "Heaven Is For Real," "Son of God," and "When Calls The Heart."

In addition to being widely acclaimed, reports continue to spread throughout the media about the movie's impact on every day Christians in places like Indiana and North Dakota.

As of the end of October, it has grossed over $110 million in domestic and foreign theatrical, and home entertainment. The movie's international distribution continues as God's Not Dead will feature a release this month in the Philippines. Audiences can keep an eye out for "God's Not Dead 2" some time in 2016.
