JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Christian Examiner) – With a quick smile and a brush of his pencil, Joe McKeever has played out on paper what evangelical churchgoers across America routinely play out in their minds – but may stop short of saying.

The seminary-trained pastor who started drawing as a child, began over a decade ago to produce daily, satirical cartoons about the Christian life for Baptist Press – the official news service of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Christian Examiner is pleased to announce McKeever's cartoons will be featured regularly in its commentary section immediately.

The Alabama native is the son of a coal miner who has been preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ for more than 50 years. He has pastored six Southern Baptist churches, the most recently First Baptist Church of Kenner, Louisiana. He is the retired director of missions for the New Orleans Baptist Association and an adjunct professor at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

A graduate of Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in history, McKeever also holds the doctorate of ministry in evangelism and masters in church history from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

McKeever is the publisher of several cartoon books and blogs and writes at www.joemckeever.com. He is the widowed father of three children and grandfather of eight.
