TUPELO, Miss. (Christian Examiner) – Two men sit together on a sofa, arms around each other and a baby girl, saying they could never have gotten married and become parents twenty years ago, in an advertisement by Allstate directed at the LGBT community.

"The Allstate promotion does not share the reality that this child will grow up without the nurture that only a mother can provide. Nor does Allstate recognize the emotional trauma and questions this child will endure growing up in a home with two men," says the American Family Association, which has created a petition for people to reach out to Allstate.

"Here's to Firsts: Family" is Allstate's two-minute documentary about Danny and Andrew's journey to parenthood, their feelings about the baby girl, and their hopes for her to be able to overcome obstacles like they have.

The American Family association points out the risk for the baby girl being raised in a home without a mother, which includes emotional struggles, higher likelihood of drug and alcohol abuse, and risk of depression.

The caption under the video on the Allstate video's page says, "Danny and Andrew had a lot of memorable firsts in 2015. See what's made the year so special for their family."

The short video shows the men playing with the baby, bringing her to an extended family event, and holding her in their laps while she sleeps.

ABANDONING GOD'S DESIGN

The advertisement is an intentional celebration of a home depriving a child of a mother, Americans for Truth about Homosexuality (AFTAH) reports.

"Little girls and little boys deserve a mom and a dad whenever possible–and they do not deserve to be the innocent victims of a perverse social experiment intended to validate sexual misbehaviors that have been condemned throughout history," writes Peter LaBarbara for AFTAH.

AFTAH says the ad is Allstate's attempt to raise its score from 85 to 100 on the biased Corporate Equality Index of the homosexual rights group Human Rights Campaign.

"God has ordained that a traditional mother and father are the best for raising children," the American Family Association said. "Allstate has abandoned God's design for the family, and thus promotes a lifestyle that is not good for children."

A new study conclusively proves children in homes of married heterosexual parents have better outcomes than children of homosexual parents in 77 out of 80 outcome measures, according to the Family Research Council (FRC).

After explaining the scientific validity of the study, the FRC said children of homosexual parents are more likely to have depression, have lower educational achievements, and get arrested more than children with an "intact biological family."

"Remember when American corporations like Allstate supported wholesome family values instead of a politically correct sin movement?" LaBarbara adds.

The insurance company would lose points on the Human Rights Campaigns index for supporting traditional family values, AFTAH notes.

The FRC concludes, "The myths that children of homosexual parents are 'no different' from other children and suffer 'no harm' from being raised by homosexual parents have been shattered forever."

The American Family Association petition to Allstate has over 28,453 signatures as of Wednesday, Jan. 6.
