When "Doctor Who" left Netflix on Feb. 1, fans were left a bit more heartbroken. However, The Doctor's absence was only shortlived and has returned, but this time, he can be seen on Amazon Prime.

It was speculated that "Doctor Who" was retracted from streaming services like Netflix and Hulu to make way for BBC's own streaming service. This meant a big deal to fans because it added to the already long list of bad news circulating in the Whoverse (Doctor Who Universe), like long-time showrunner Steven Moffat leaving and rumors that Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor will be having season 10 as his last. Moreover, fans will endure 2016 without new "Doctor Who" episodes.

However, the whole speculation about BBC's streaming service is not quite in sight yet, as Amazon announced in a video post via their Twitter account on Feb. 22 that series 1-8 of "Doctor Who" (2005) will be available on Amazon Prime starting March. It seems, however, that the video post is no longer available for viewing.

Amazon Prime is a membership program of Amazon that offers a number of perks for its members such as streaming video and music, e-books, and free shipping. It costs $99 per year and gives subscribers a 30-day free trial once they sign up.

There are a couple of catches, however. Netflix and Hulu are the biggest and top streaming services out there and since the contract with Amazon Prime is exclusive, this means another subscription for users who want to start binge-watching or continue accessing the show. Moreover, Classic Who (serials from the First to the Seventh Doctor) episodes are not part of the Amazon Prime service although it was included in the Netflix service.

There are no hints whether or not "Doctor Who" will make a full comeback in the world of streaming.
