Grammy Awards 2016 news: Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and more to perform; Mark Ronson, Kendrick Lamar expected to win big

Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Adele, and more music industry power players are set to take the stage in this year's Grammy Awards, which is sure to be a night of big performances and even bigger wins.

The Recording Industry Association of America announced Swift's upcoming performance on Twitter on Sunday, Feb. 7, while Rihanna tweeted about her participation on Friday, Feb. 5.

The "1989" singer and the "ANTI" artist join a lineup of previously-announced performers that includes Adele, Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Little Big Town, Ellie Goulding, the cast of Broadway musical "Hamilton," Diplo, Skrillex, and Robin Thicke.

Demi Lovato, Luke Bryan, John Legend, and Meghan Trainor are set to perform a tribute to Lionel Richie that has been called "a multi-genre performance."

Lady Gaga will take the stage for a tribute to David Bowie and The Hollywood Vampires will pay homage to Lemmy. A tribute to B.B. King will be performed by Bonnie Raitt, Chris Stapleton, and Gary Clark, Jr.

Swift, a seven-time Grammy winner, is nominated this year in seven categories, including Song of the Year for "Blank Space" and Album of the Year. "1989," which was released back in 2014, is expected to rake in the awards this year, but the overlong period since the album's release date, coupled with Adele's "25" overshadowing "1989's" sales accomplishments, could mean that Album of the Year could go to someone else.

That someone could be Kendrick Lamar, whose "To Pimp A Butterfly" was both a commercial and critical success. And while this year's Grammy nominees lineup shows a notable lack of black artists in the general genres, Lamar leads the nominations with 11 nods.

And on the flip side of the racial disparity, Mark Ronson, whose album "Uptown Special" is up for three Grammys, told CBS News that he doesn't mind being known as "the white guy in the Bruno Mars video." Not many know that the hit song "Uptown Funk," which featured Mars and was one of 2015's biggest hits, was, in fact, from Ronson's Grammy-nominated album. Ronson and Mars are both nominated for Record of the Year for "Uptown Funk."

The 58th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Monday, Feb. 15, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
