Mother found dead in apartment freezer, Amber Alert issued for missing 11-month-old
HOUSTON – A woman was found Monday dead and stuffed into a refrigerator in her apartment in Houston, Texas, according to reports. Now an Amber Alert has been issued for her missing 11-month-old son, Achilles Lambert.
The African-American woman was identified as being 27 years old. Braeswood Oaks Apartments workers noticed a strong smell coming from the apartment, whose power had been shut off Nov. 20 from a lack of payment on the utilities bill. The victim had not been seen in the past month, but had not been facing eviction, police told KHOU.
When authorities arrived in apartment 822, they found the woman's body in the refrigerator with evidence that she had been stabbed. Her infant son Achilles was missing and police believe that he is with his father, Patrick Lambert, 38.
"We've been unable to contact any family to see if the child is with anyone else and that's our biggest concern right now, making sure the boy is safe," Sgt. Jason Robles of the Houston Police Department told KRPC news.
An Amber Alert has been issued to find the child and Lambert, who are both African-American. Neither have been seen or heard from in the last week. Patrick Lambert is about 5-foot-11 and has been described by police as a person of interest in the death of the child's mother.
"It's going to be in the public's hands right now," Robles explained. "Anybody who knows Mr. Lambert or the family is asked to call the homicide division."
Anyone who has information connected to the case is asked to call the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division at (713) 308-3600.
