NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Christian Examiner) – Search engine giant Bible Gateway announced its top ten verses for 2014, and John 3:16 topped the list for the third straight year.

The passage was the favorite among 150 million unique visitors to BibleGateway.com who tallied 1.5 pageviews from December 2013 through November 2014.

Bible Gateway readers differed from YouVersion app users in that John 3:16 did not even make the latter's top ten list for the year. But three verses were popular among frequenters to both Bible platforms: Jeremiah 29:11 (number two on Bible Gateway; fourth with YouVersion); Philippians 4:6 (sixth and third, respectively); and Proverbs 3:5 (eighth and seventh).
