Gossip rag claims QB Russell Wilson brainwashing his wife
NEW YORK (Christian Examiner) – NFL quarterback Russell Wilson is used to taking hits on the field.
Now, however, the gossip site Celebrity Dirty Laundry has claimed the Seattle Seahawks quarterback has turned his bride into a "Stepford Wife," brainwashing her with his views on family and the Christian faith.
"Ciara and Russell Wilson's marriage might be perfect according to the singer, but her fans think otherwise – in fact Ciara now seems more like a Stepford Wife than a vital figure in pop culture. In fact, there's speculation that Russell Wilson might be behind Ciara's new outlook on life as the 'Goodies' singer has changed drastically since she met the NFL superstar one year ago," CDL claimed.
The site made the claim in spite of the fact that Ciara told People magazine that she was happy after meeting, dating and then marrying Wilson. The two are raising Ciara's son, Future Zahir Wilburn, by her former fiancée, the rapper Future.
When Wilson and his now wife began dating, they announced that would avoid being intimate with one another until they were married, doing things "Jesus's way." Wilson speaks often about his faith and trying to life according to the teachings of Scripture.
CDL claimed Ciara hoped "to restore her dignity by marrying devout Christian Russell Wilson."
"The couple managed to keep their vow of chastity before their wedding and Ciara herself has posted social media photos and videos of her praying and living a more Christian-like lifestyle with her son, Future. Some fans even think that Russell Wilson might be 'brainwashing' Ciara," the site claimed.
Ciara admitted remaining abstinent until marriage was tough because she is "so human," but she said the couple prayed through the tough times.
There are other changes, however, that the gossip tabloid cannot abide – such as Ciara distancing herself from her past.
"The singer is no longer in contact with some of her closest friends, including Kim Kardashian and isn't provocatively dancing and giving fans lap dances during her performances like she used to. Ciara might have made a lot of changes to help please her husband Russell Wilson, but will it take long for the cracks to show in the façade before she goes back to her old habits?"
Wilson was divorced from his first wife, his high school sweetheart, after rumors swirled that she was involved in an extramarital affair with his teammate Golden Tate. Tate denied any involvement with Ashton Wilson.
