MOBILE, Ala. (Christian Examiner) – The University of Mobile has expanded its online degree program, adding options for adult students interested in pursing associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees.

Joining the Christian university's first fully online degree program, the Bachelor of Science in Marketplace Ministry, are the Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Education, and Associate of Science in General Studies.

For more information, go to learnonline.umobile.edu or call (251) 442-2662 or (855) 446-9571. The next sessions of classes will begin Aug. 17 and Oct. 12.

Danny Chancey, director of Adult and Professional Studies and graduate programs, said new students may enroll at various times throughout the year, since classes are offered in a flexible eight-week format. He said the online degree programs are designed to meet the scheduling needs of working adults age 23 and older who are starting or continuing a college degree. Students who are younger than age 23 with adult responsibilities are also eligible.

"We are in the process of adding even more online degrees that have the same integrity and high standards as programs held on campus. Our goal is to offer adult students options that are flexible, affordable and faith-based," Chancey said.

The Master of Arts in Education is designed for educators who already have Class B certification. The degree leads to Class A certification in early childhood education, elementary education, or dual certification in both areas.

The Bachelor of Business Administration includes courses in managerial economics, management concepts, organizational behavior, business writing and conflict resolution. In addition to being regionally accredited, UMobile is also accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

The Associate of Science in General Studies includes courses in the humanities and the social and behavioral sciences. The two-year degree is designed to help increase a graduate's marketability and advance a career, and is a step on the path to a bachelor's degree.

The university's first fully online degree program, the Bachelor of Science in Marketplace Ministry, prepares graduates for career paths such as a Christian leader in ministry, leadership roles in faith-based and non-profit organizations, church planter or pastor, urban ministry leader, and corporate or industry chaplain.

The university also offers on-campus bachelor degree programs for adults, including the Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Cultural Studies, Bachelor of Science in Elementary or Early Childhood Education, and the RN to BSN program for registered nurses working toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
