Churches come together for Easter sunrise service

Several San Clemente churches will join together Easter Sunday for a sunrise service that has been a tradition for more than a decade.

Easter Together will feature different worship teams and pastors providing music and presenting the sermons, while other church volunteers help with set up, tear down, hospitality and outreach.

Most of the churches are non-denominational and the average weekend attendance at each church ranges from 120 to 800.

"What makes Easter Together so special is that there are no rock stars, no big named speakers or musical artists to draw a big crowd," said Holland Davis, pastor of Calvary Chapel San Clemente.  "All the people involved are local San Clemente people with a real desire to see the city unified for Jesus Christ."

Featured speakers this year include Roger Gales from Heritage Christian Fellowship, Chris Smith from South Coast Community Church, Holland Davis from Calvary Chapel San Clemente and Marcus Ellington from Lighthouse Christian Fellowship.  Ron Sukut from Cornerstone Community Church will emcee Easter Together with special music provided by the Easter Together Band.

This year's participating churches are Cornerstone Community Church, Heritage Christian Fellowship, St. Michael's Charismatic Episcopal Church, Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, Pacific Coast Church, South Coast Church International and Calvary Chapel San Clemente.

"Easter together is a wonderful opportunity for the churches in San Clemente to unify and worship as one," Marcus Ellington from Lighthouse Christian Fellowship. "It is in this arena that we give true honor to Jesus Christ, the Risen King."

Easter Together is being held 6:30 am April 20 at the new Vista Hermosa Sports Park located at 987 Avenida Vista Hermosa, San Clemente, CA.  For more information visit
