ALBANY, Ga. (Christian Examiner) – Six weeks after its release, the faith-based film "War Room" continues to set records and achieve feats rare for a movie in its genre.

The Kendrick Brothers Productions film finished in the Top 10 for the sixth straight weekend Oct. 2-4, something that only five other faith-based films have ever done: "The Passion Of The Christ" (2004), "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe" (2005), "The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian" (2008), "Soul Surfer" (2011) and "Heaven Is For Real" (2014), according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.

"War Room" was ninth in total gross at $2.8 million over the weekend but may struggle to stay in the Top 10 this weekend with one movie opening nationwide ("Pan") and another film that was No. 11 last weekend ("The Walk") expanding.

Even if its string of Top 10 finishes is snapped, it has been an impressive run for the relatively low-budget ($3 million) production. For example, "War Room":

  • Finished No. 1 on its second weekend, become the first faith-based film since "The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader" (2010) to do that. If the Narnia films aren't included, then the most recent No. 1 faith film was "The Passion Of The Christ."
  • Averaged $10,001 per screen its first weekend, the most for a faith-based film since "Prince Caspian."
  • Climbed to No 1 in its second weekend after opening at No. 2, a rare feat for any Hollywood film, much less a faith-based one.
  • Was given an A+ CinemaScore rating by moviegoers, making Alex Kendrick the first director ever to receive that rating in consecutive movies, according to Deadline.com.

"War Room" has grossed $60 million, the most yet for a Kendrick Brothers film. The brothers also made "Courageous" and "Fireproof."
