NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Christian Examiner) – Following a record-setting performance on its first night in theaters in September, the documentary To Joey With Love is set for an encore performance Thursday night (Oct. 6).

The faith-centric film follows the career and marriage of Rory and Joey Feek, who were better known as Joey+Rory and were named the Academy of Country Music Top New Vocal Duo in 2010. The two took a year off to celebrate the birth of their first child and to live off the land at their Middle Tennessee homestead, but soon discovered that Joey had cancer. She died earlier this year shortly after their daughter, Indiana, turned two. Prior to her death, they recorded an album of favorite hymns.

The film – which is built around home movies they filmed – grossed more than $1.2 million on Sept. 20 to place it No. 2 among all films and finished No. 1 in per-theater average while being shown in about 750 theaters. It also was the highest-attended inspirational film of the year for Fathom, which was its distributor.

Rory Feek previously told the Christian Examiner that he "felt God's nudge" to make the documentary.

"It is sort-of a cross between a 'found footage' film and a home movie," he said. "It cost almost nothing to make, dollar wise ... but the story that is told cost everything that one woman could give. My hope is that it's a blessing to others the way that it's a blessing to me and my children."
