CULVER CITY, Calif.(Christian Examiner) -- The award-winning creators of Christian films Fireproof and Courageous released a trailer this week of their next feature War Room, a family-friendly drama about transformational prayer due to open nationwide in theaters August 28.
"We made this film to inspire, challenge and motivate viewers to fight the right kind of battles and to fight them the best way," says writer and director Alex Kendrick.
The Kendrick Brothers, AFFIRM Films, and Provident Films released trailers on various digital platforms Thursday.
The one-minute teasers demonstrate the film's exploration of the power of prayer and its impacting change on relationships and throughout the areas of every day life.
The story line follows the family of a married couple with career success experiencing the strain of a crumbling marriage. The compelling drama takes viewers into the heart of spiritual battle as the wife and mother Elizabeth, takes the challenge of establishing a "war room" in which she commits to fighting for her marriage through prayer.
War Room was filmed in and around Charlotte, North Carolina and is co-produced by Gary Wheeler (The Perfect Summer).
It is the highly anticipated fifth film from the Stephen and Alex Kendrick, also known for Facing the Giants, Flywheel, Soul Surfer and Heaven is for Real. This Kendrick Brothers feature production is set to release with a PG rating from Tristar Pictures, owned by Sony Entertainment.
The film's cast features debut actors Priscilla Shirer, a New York Times best-selling author and renowned speaker Beth Moore who makes a cameo appearance.
The cast also includes new comers Karen Abercrombie as Miss Clara and Alena Pitts as Danielle director Alex Kendrick (Moms' Night Out, Courageous) and T.C. Stallings (Courageous) as well as Comedian Michael Jr.
