ANAHEIM, Calif. Southern Californians will get two distinct opportunities to attend the annual Harvest Crusade outreach, with the addition of a Los Angeles stopover on Sept. 10.
A month earlier, however, the crusade makes its 22nd annual stop in Orange County from Aug. 12 to 14 at Angel Stadium. Sessions begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights and 6 p.m. on Sunday. Gates open at 4:30.
According to organizers, more than 140 Southern California churches have teamed with Riverside's Harvest Christian Fellowship to host the Anaheim event.
The free evangelistic outreach at Angels Stadium will feature the music of the David Crowder Band, Kutless, Crystal Lewis, Red, Phil Wickham, Lincoln Brewster, Jeremy Camp, Jars of Clay and Francesca Battistelli.
Speakers include crusade founder, Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship, and Sunday guest will be Louis Zamperini, a former American prisoner-of-war, Olympic distance runner and inspirational speaker.
Interpretation services will be available in Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and signing for the deaf.
The Los Angeles crusade, hosted at Dodger Stadium event, is sponsored by more than 200 churches and will showcase Chris Tomlin, Kirk Franklin, Jeremy Camp and The Katinas. Interpretation services will include Spanish, Korean, and signing for the deaf.
It starts at 6 p.m., with gates open at 4:30 p.m.
Participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the "Boxes of Hope" drive sponsored by the Fred Jordan Mission.
In addition to the thousands expected at the events, the crusade's live webcasts are expected to double the at-site attendance. In addition, the ministry's technical team will provide video podcasts and blogs.
Organizers state that more than 353,300 people have made professions of faith in Jesus Christ at previous Harvest events in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
A room will be available each night of the Southern California Harvests for intercessory prayer.
