RIO DE JANIERO (Christian Examiner) – The ultra-feminist Sara Fernanda Giromini, more popularly known as Sara Winter, denounced feminism just three years after founding "Femen Brazil," a group known for its topless protests and extreme liberal views.

After the recent birth of her son, Winter declared herself pro-woman rather than feminist, a stance that has caused her considerable backlash on social media from her former associates and followers.

In a Dec. 15 YouTube video called "I apologize to Christians for feminist protest," Winter denounces feminism and abortion.

"I have repented of having had an abortion and today I ask for forgiveness," wrote Winter, according to LifeSiteNews. "Yesterday marked one month after the birth of my baby and my life has taken on a new meaning. I'm writing this while he sleeps serenely on my lap. It is the greatest sensation in the world."

Winter has also published a short book, "B—ch, no! Seven times I was betrayed by Feminism," in which she describes the way feminism has failed her. She describes being pressured to use drugs and to engage in bisexuality.

"Please, women who are desperate to abort, think carefully about it. I was very sorry I did it. I don't want the same for you," Winter added.

AMAZED BY FORGIVENESS

Winter has also apologized for a much-publicized photograph taken of her kissing a woman while seminude in front of the Church of Our Lady of Candelária in Rio de Janeiro, which was used to further Brazilian GLBT platforms.

After founding Femen Brazil in 2012 at age 19, she left it to join Bastardxs, a group of women and men that scorned traditional gender roles and Christianity in 2013.

She now says she is ashamed of the feminist movement in Brazil, calling it "a completely toxic environment, filled with gossip, intrigue, humiliation and persecution," according to news.com.au.

"Asking for forgiveness is certainly not an easy thing to do," said Winter in the video, according to news.com. "We went way too far and ended up offending many religious and non-religious people."

Her conversion to Christianity and her new motherhood have changed her views about the fundamental feminism tenets and challenged her to return to defending women's rights and being pro-woman, she said in a Facebook post in October.

"I feel extremely happy and welcome. I never imagined that religious people take 'forgiveness' seriously. This is a learning experience for all who criticize Christians," she said in the video. "I thank all the Christians who have supported me and given me space to spread my new visions. God bless."

FEMINISM A 'SECT'

Winter said she was molested by a lesbian during her involvement with the feminism movement and succumbed to pressure to be bisexual in order to gain respect within the group.

In addition to apologizing for her feminist protest and her abortion, Winter is clear about her views of feminism: "For the feminist sect women are not the inspiration; they are prime matter in the worst sense of the term. They are convenient objects useful for the purpose of inflaming hatred against the Christian religion, hatred against men, hatred against the beauty of women, hatred against the equilibrium of families. That's what feminism is, and I can guarantee it is like that because I was on the inside!" Winter wrote, according to news.com.

Now she says she wants to advocate for women's rights, not feminism. With Christian psychologist Marisa Lobo, she will speak against feminism and gender ideology.

"I left that movement of which for four years I was one of the principal symbols in Brazil, and no one can say the contrary!" Winter wrote, according to LifeSite. "The result? Today I'm much happier and I'm able to help women more."
